 There's a quiet place nestled among the apple and oak trees in
the hills just 2 miles south of Ellwood City, where you can see
an ostrich dance! The place is BER-NITA ACRES. The ostrich is
Alexander, and he loves to dance.

The family farm is 92 acres, and inhabited by alpacas, a mini-horse with cart, ostriches, sheep, beef cattle and chickens, not to mention dogs and cats and the ducks and geese which return every year to live on the three ponds. The ponds are spring fed, well stocked, and accommodate Bass and Blue Gill for excellent fishing. Fun for the kids to dig worms and throw a line in! Since we seasonally incubate and hatch ostrich eggs (March - September), and grow out our chicks to full size, we usually have many ostriches for your viewing. |
 The
farmhouse at BER-NITA ACRES, where proprietor Juanita Martin and her husband,
Jim Eriser, live and the guests stay, is a big old fashioned home almost
150 years old, but comes with many modern upkeeps and additions, like the big outdoor deck which overlooks the
farm. The house has city water, natural gas and cable TV - & no smoking.
There are three bedrooms on the second floor where guests stay. The rooms have that old fashioned feel to them, each with a wood frame bed (2 queens & 1 full), and checkered quilt covering them. It's quaint and quiet -- no TV or phones upstairs. |
| All rooms are $65-75 per night, including full farm fresh breakfast. One room is large enough to accommodate an extra 2 small children, for an additional cost of $10.00/child in the same room. Crib/mattress/bedding will be furnished. We require a deposit to hold rooms, and accept checks, MC, Visa, or Discover. Seven (7) day cancellation notice is required to receive full deposit refund. No refunds for early departures. |
| There is a TV - along with a VCR/DVD and a large selection of movies - in the large family room which the family shares with the guests. The room is capable of seating over 20 people comfortably and is decorated with a number of Juanita's paintings, and a tree decorated in accordance with the current season or holiday. |
| BER-NITA ACRES is located in the midst of Beaver Valley industry and
business, yet secluded for peace and quiet. There are nearby parks, shopping outlets, BeaveRun Motorsports and sight seeing attractions. The farm is less than one hour from
downtown Pittsburgh, 20 minutes from PA Turnpike Exit #13.
