Sun & Cricket Bed & Breakfast
On 35 acres of lush, rolling fields surrounded on all sides by mature leafy trees, looking much like a tonsured monk from the air, lies the rambling rustic compound that is the Sun and Cricket. Tara and John Bradley-Steck are innkeepers for the carriage house and the log cabin, dedicated to the luxurious comfort of human guests and the up-to-date luxury barn accommodations for up to four guest horses.
The log cabin -- the larger of the two suites -- is constructed of hand-hewn logs of Appalachian white pine and wide-planked wooden floors. It features free Internet access, a wood-burning fireplace and a private library. The carriage house -- once part of a 200-year-old barn and dance hall from a nearby farm -- is reminiscent of a cozy cottage at the end of a wending lane and comes with its own private horse pastyure. Despite their old-fashioned aesthetic, the two suites are equipped with modern amenities desired by today's discriminating travelers: air conditioning, private baths, in-room refrigerators and coffeemakers, HDTVs and DVDs, fireplaces, separate entrances and private porches.
To complete your stay, we offer a three-course breakfast that mines the bounty of our own vegetable/herb gardens and orchards while tapping the resources of local smokehouses, wineries, mills, farms and farm markets.
